Marokintana…

November 29, 2012

Marokintana, or "Many Stars" as the threatened Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) is known in Madagascar, is the largest fish on the planet. It is protected only in certain countries and still hunted in many parts of the world. The great size (over 8 meters long), hypnotic beauty and gentile nature of this Marokintana will live in my mind as one of the most memorable wildlife encounters of my life.
