Lake Malawi is home to a vast variety of unique wildlife

Did you know that Lake Malawi is home to over 1,000 species of freshwater fish, nearly 500 of them being endemic species? The Lake (which is the eighth largest lake in the world) contains more freshwater species than North America and Europe combined. Cychlids are by far the dominant family of fish, and many beautiful species from Lake Malawi are now found around the world in freshwater aquariums.
